For those of you who don’t know me, before coming down to Los Angeles and working with Mountain Bike Action, I spent my time up in Sonoma County, California, where I found my passion for mountain biking. As a kid, I loved two wheels and wanted to spend as much time on my dirt bike as possible, but with a lack of places to ride motorcycles after outgrowing my backyard track, I quickly discovered mountain biking and the joys of peacefully riding through singletrack. My dad and I could often be found in Annadel State Park, enjoying the many great trails every chance we got. This later led me to join a local race team, providing the community and the foundation that made me the cyclist I am today.

Recently, I had the opportunity to head back home and enjoy a few great rides with friends and family. One of those friends was Charles Himes, the founder of Razz Wheels and one of the founders of Velo Fratello, a local cycling team. We all have a little story to tell… this is ours.

It has been said that in order to excel at what you do – pursue your passion. That’s exactly what we do here at RAZZ Wheels… we ride, race and win on wheelsets and bicycles we have built. It is as simple as that.

It all started when I endeavored to build my own custom mtn bike wheelset with I-9 hubs & Nox carbon hoops. The wheelset came out like a PRO build! I have raced and hammered this wheelset in many XC and Enduro races, including The Sea Otter Classic, The Downieville Classic, Anndadel Classic, Mammoth Bar Enduro, etc. and it is still straight as an arrow!

I have since built several wheelsets for friends, family and teammates and they are all impressed with the level of precision and detail of the build, as well as the superior ride quality of the wheels.

All of us here at RAZZ Wheels have similar stories of how following our passion for things related to the sport of cycling, resulted in merging our skills to build custom wheelsets and awesome bikes for you! Razz Wheels on a Dream Bike

Brandon Castelli discusses what is entailed in "Building a Dream Bike" over at Mountain Bike Action, and how RAZZ Wheels fits into that plan.

The majority of bikes we test come with a solid selection of parts that get the job done; however, sometimes “good enough” just isn’t good enough. I began sourcing parts to build the bike of my dreams—one that could shred as hard as I think I do when my head hits the pillow. My project started around the idea of building a bike with a Shimano XTR 12-speed drivetrain. This alone proved to be a difficult task, considering the system wasn’t widely available until sometime after the drivetrain was released. I then reached out to our good friends at Pivot who graciously offered up a Mach 6 carbon frame. It features 155mm of dw-link suspension and 27.5-inch wheels to suit the playful attitude I was looking to achieve.

OneUp Components came on board, supplying a handlebar and stem combo and a long-travel dropper post. Fox sent out a Factory Series fork to ensure performance requirements were met, and a custom pair of WeAreOne wheels with Industry Nine hubs was built by Razz Wheels.
